LETTER FROM MEYERS

Dear Fellow Bootmakers,

Here we are, soon to be in the new year for another season of Bootmakers meetings and camaraderie. We continue to increase our US and international membership capitalizing on our online Zoom meetings with guest speakers from all over the world. From our local speakers like Vicki Delany, Mimi Okabe, Jim Ballinger, Cliff Goldfarb and Bruce Aikin, to our international speakers like Roger Johnson, Larry Raisch, Robert Katz, Diane Gilbert Madsen, Zach Dundas and Mark Dawidziak, 2023 was a good year for the Bootmakers. And even our year-end experimental hybrid meeting at the Pilot Tavern went surprisingly well!

And let’s not forget about Canadian Holmes magazine. Zoom has certainly given us more exposure but Canadian Holmes gives the group a professionalism and gravitas that puts us on a level with the BSI and London. And I would like to encourage our membership to help support Canadian Holmes by submitting articles for possible publication, and letting editors Mark and JoAnn Alberstat know how much you enjoy the magazine.

This year promises to be just as exciting as the last. We will continue with virtual meetings for our members. We will do two in-person meetings for our local membership (possibly another hybrid meeting but this will be dependent on the library’s stipulations). We will continue to bring more fabulous international speakers to our meetings, original song parodies, diabolical quizzes, and so much more. So don’t miss out. Please take the time now to review the membership categories and renew your Bootmakers 2024 membership.
